Abbey is a 5-6 yr old, 7-8 pound Maltese mix that was rescued from a life of reproducing for profit. She is now living her best life in foster while she waits for her forever home. Abbey arrived at her foster home like most retired breeders, not knowing what a toy was, fearful of people, afraid to go out and afraid to come in, fearful of taking treats, not knowing what a dog bed was. Abbey has come so far in a short time. She has gained confidence and will accept treats by hand and come and go through the door with the other dogs. She will initiate play with a sweet, gentle sound and has discovered a love for toys .. any kind of toy will do, she can even entertain herself for hours with a scrap of paper, cat toy or paper bag. Abbey is dog and cat friendly. She is not totally housebroken but working hard on the concept. She is not leash trained so a home with a fenced in yard would be optimal. She is also searching for a home with another small, playful dog. The most important thing Abbey has learned is that people can be kind and the life of a dog can be rewarding. She will need a loving home with a little extra patience and understanding. Abbey is being fostered in West Bend, Wi and her adoption donation is $375. She will be UTD on all shots, micro-chipped and spayed. If you can offer sweet Abbey her forever home, please submit an application to: xxxx
