Wherever it came from, it quickly developed a vicious infection that she battled for weeks. The vet gave her only a 40% chance of keeping her eye. But she's a trooper who never gave up and now, to the vet's and our delight, she successfully fought off the infection and has received a clean bill of health. We are advised though that the slight color change due to scarring from her ordeal is likely permanent. Her right eye, fully cleared of infection by the vet, has a subtle deep blue tint as a reminder of her early struggles in this world. We included two photos of lil Cassie carefully held in the exact particular lighting where the color change can be seen most clearly. In other photos with different lightings, as in real life with different lightings, it is hardly noticeable at all. We don't believe it makes her one single bit less precious but since it is technically a "flaw," we marked her adoption fee down accordingly and are looking for someone who will love her just the way she is. As a result of medications and ointments applied 4 times daily for weeks, Cassandra is very comfortable being handled, has an extra spunky personality, and loves interacting with people. She also has a pep in her step everywhere she goes and seems to have a special love and excitement for life. To commemorate her victory against the odds and embrace the mark the battle left her with, we named her after the mythological Greek seer Cassandra. We are no fortune tellers, but we still confidently predict for her a beautiful life full of the same unconditional love and acceptance she gives to everyone she meets - because we won't part with the spunky little princess to anyone who offers her any less.
