5-year old Chi Mix lost her Mom to cancer and is in desperate need of a loving forever home. I am writing today on behalf of ShaDo (pronounced Shadow). She is a5 year old (4/14/2018) black and tan Chihuahua mix of 15lb who recently lost her doting, retired mother to cancer. She is located in Manteca, CA, but can be transported to your CA location. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations. ShaDo was just that to her mother and accompanied her everywhere. ShaDo’s favorite spot was on her mother’s lap. Unfortunately, this little girl is in need of a new home. She is currently safe with a foster, but that situation will only last for a short while longer. ShaDo has known other small dogs and has been respectful or playful with them. She can resource guard with toys or treats, so would need an adopter who will be mindful of that while teaching her that there is plenty of all to go around. While she has lived as an only dog for her whole life, she loved playing with her cousin who visited regularly and should be okay living with another dog with proper introduction. ShaDo does great with pee pads, no accidents or will go outside when taken, but didn’t have access to a dog door. She enjoys her daily walks, but needs a harness to help her from pulling. She barks at passersby or squirrels, but will quiet with a cue. ShaDo isn’t overly fond of car rides as she associates them with vet visits, but should respond well to positive reinforcement that car rides are good, such as a new walking experience or a pup cup. She is only available to an adopter who practices positive reinforcement training. She want’s nothing more than love, her person to be home a lot, and a lap to snuggle on.
