Female Caique Bird for sale in Irwin, Pennsylvania

Listing Description

Emerald is a four year-old, black-capped caique conure. She is full-grown at 8 inches from top of head to tip of tail and weighs 6 mg. My husband and I are getting up in years, so we are beginning the search for a new home for her.

Emerald is a sweet bird, but can be jealous toward children. She does not mind dogs, but has never been exposed to another bird. She has a lifetime membership for nail trims and wing clips at the pet store here in Irwin. She has a very large cage on wheels 2.5’x 4’ with a playground on top where she spends her time during the day. She also has a smaller travel cage with a heater where we cover her at night. She also has a travel backpack for trips to and from the pet store or vet. She loves to hang out (attended)outside during the summer on her driftwood perch. Because she is from the rainforest, she requires water on her skin daily. We have a perch for the shower, which she loves, but will bath in her water bowl.

Conures usually do not talk, but Emerald can do the cat call whistle, a come here whistle, and the charge whistle. She can do three tricks for a pine-nut: turn around, shake hands, and ring toss. She will screech if ignored for too long, but is very content as long as her primary caregiver is near. She is very smart!

Emerald is used to a fresh diet of veggies in the morning, fruit in the evening and conure seed always available in her cages. We have never been successful, trying to give her pellets. We sprinkle vitamins on her veggies, each morning and she loves walnuts with her fruit in the evening.
