Temperament
:Hello there! Allow me to introduce you to Alf. Alf is 9 years old, neutered, and about 85 lbs of lovin\'.\r\n\r\nI adopted Alf about 2.5 years ago and I adore him. Unfortunately, a recent change in my job requires frequent travel for extended periods of time. This is preventing me from giving him the care and attention he deserves, so I am looking for a loving home for this senior boy to live out his golden years. A few things to know about our boy:\r\n\r\nALF is full of personality and gives love freely to everyone he meets. He\'s a true velcro dog and couch hippo, loving nothing more than being all snuggled up with his favorite humans. His favorite thing is to be held and get lots of belly rubs.\r\nHe\'s a very social dog who loves greeting everyone he meets, and might even want to give them a hug, too.\r\nHe\'s a great family dog who is gentle and well behaved with kids.\r\nAlf is a playful boy, and is particularly obsessed with tennis balls of all sizes. He is also a willing participant in a good game of tug-o-war. He loves chew toys too, but you\'ll want to get the good, sturdy, \"hard to destroy\" ones. More than one plushy toy has met a fast and complete demise once Alf got a hold of them.\r\nDon\'t be fooled by Alf\'s age because this boy is always up for an adventure and will jump in the car at a moment notice. He loves the outdoors like going to parks, hikes on the trails, etc. However, he is not an adrenaline junky, so lazy afternoons on the porch, Netflix binging, or just rolling in the grass is just as satisfying for this big ole meatball. As long as he is with his humans, he is happy.\r\nOnce Alf comes into your house, you and your family will never feel safer because he will alert you to the presence of all potential neighborhood intruders, like those evil Amazon, FedEx, UPS, USPS and garbage trucks!\r\nIn case you haven\'t noticed yet, Alf has never taken a bad picture. (The camera just looooves him!)\r\n\r\n A few additional notes:\r\nWhen I first adopted Alf, he did have some separation anxiety. As he became more certain that he was in a safe, trusting home, that subsided over time. He does currently take some medication that helps control that. Other than that, Alf has a clean bill of health and is up to date on all his shots. I will provide all medical records at the time of adoption.\r\nHe is both house broken and crate trained. He actually prefers the crate as opposed to just being locked in a room.\r\nHe knows \"sit\" and \"speak.\" He is also treat motivated and eager to please, so additional training should go well. That being said...\r\n...he does need some improvement on his leash skills. He will pull at the beginning of a walk because he is so excited to go (and because I am a softie and never spent the time to train it out of him), but he settles down soon after you get going.\r\n\r\nAlf\'s ideal home would be one where he is the only dog in the house (king of the castle!), and I would suggest no cats either. If someone worked from home at least some of the time, that would be great, but it isn\'t necessary since I do not work from home. An experienced dog person who will be patient with him while he gets used to a new home again will ensure years of fun, love, and shenanigans. If you would like to learn more about Alf,
